With the support of Dutch Performing Arts and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Egypt, Hakawy International Arts Festival for Children presents a Dutch focus with 15 performances from the Netherlands. The Dutch focus takes place from 2-10 March 2020 in various cities in Egypt.
Dutch companies Simone de Jong, Arch8/Erik Kaiel, and Malou van Sluis are featured in the Dutch focus. They will be going on tour to Cairo, Minya and Alexandria.

Hakawy International Arts Festival for Children brings together a wide range of performances from all over the world geared to young audiences. The performances are presented over the course of ten days, with the goal to educate and entertain Egyptian children and their families through arts and culture. This 10th edition, the festival presents 11 international productions for young audiences, including the Dutch focus and an American focus, an Egyptian focus, and a variety of talks and workshops.

Besides the performances, the Netherlands are also represented at a panel discussion on 7 March at 19:30 in Falaki Theater. Anja Krans, programme manager of Dutch Performing Arts, takes part in a panel discussion on international cooperation and how local artists can be supported by commissioning them. Fellow panelists are Noël Jordan (artistic director of Edinburgh International Arts Festival for children) and Yvette Hardie (president of Assitej).

Delegates' programme
Dutch Performing Arts also support the festival's delegates' programme, hosted in collaboration with AFCA for Arts and Culture. Delegates take part in a four-day programme in Cairo from 6-9 March in Cairo.
