In Your Way 2018
In collaboration with Dutch Performing Arts, new outdoor arts weekend In Your Way will spotlight the work of two Dutch makers.
In Your Way is a new, free weekend of outdoor arts interruption around Cambridge city centre, presented by arts centre Cambridge Junction on 8 and 9 September. The programme features intriguing performances and installations, promising to cause playful disruption and make a lasting impression as the projects bring people together and provoke conversation.
Dutch Performing Arts commissioned a professionals' meeting with international guests and a focus programme featuring two Dutch works, one of which is also the central work of the outdoor arts weekend.
KHOR II
KHOR II is the central installation of In Your Way and the UK premiere of the piece by Dutch-Belgian collective TAAT (Theatre as Architecture Architecture as Theatre). It is a flatpack Do-It-Together pavilion, built by Cambridge residents as a place to meet, play, share and discuss. The project uses a mixture of theatre, architecture and community, to explore democracy and social cohesion, considering what we can build when we work together.
The organisation is looking for 20 playful, enthusiastic, capable people that represent the city to build this project together on Saturday 8 September.
If you or members of your community group would like to be part of this, contact the organisation via info@inyourway.org with 'BUILD' in the subject line.
Hello Hollow
Julian Hetzel provokes a conversation about absence with his unique group of ephemeral human-like sculptures, who hang out on benches and seats in the city centre. The presence of these dark and human-like figures generates an interruption in to the public space. The sculptures are visual obstacles which draw the eye and ask you to consider them. Black plastic foil is used to enter a disturbing dialogue on who we see and who we overlook.
