Theatertext.nl: neue Stimmen aus den Niederlanden
Five Dutch playwrights are going on a promotional tour to Berlin and Bochum (Germany).
Stichting MAM (Lot Vekemans), in collaboration with het Toneelschrijfhuis, organises a festival, on behalf and with the support of Dutch Performing Arts, titled Theatertext.nl: neue Stimmen aus den Niederlanden. The five selected playwrights are Magne van de Berg (De lange nasleep van een korte mededeling), Sophie Kassies (Genesis), Joachim Robbrecht (Crashtest Ibsen: Volksvijand), Frank Siera (Spraakwater) and Alex van Warmerdam (Bij het kanaal naar links).
In both cities a mixed cast of Dutch and German actors will present three translated texts in a staged reading. These are prepared in collaboration with Het Nationale Toneel and Theater Utrecht. The texts are selected by a group of theatre text experts who are familiar with the German market: dramaturges Florian Hellwig and Paulien Geerlings, translator Eva Pieper, actress Jose Kuijpers and director Maaike van Langen.
The festivals take place on 14 January 2017 in the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and on 10 and 11 February in Schauspielhaus Bochum in Bochum.
