Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2015
Gaudeamus presents, organises, promotes, and supports the newest music by pioneering talent. Gaudeamus has been an advocate of trailblazing composers around the world for 70 years.
The festival, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, takes place from September 9 - 13 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. From classical crossover and minimal soundscapes to modern composition with (live) electronics. Gaudeamus Muziekweek presents young music pioneers. The festival culminates in the presentation of the Gaudeamus Award, an incentive prize for composers under 30. International editions of Gaudeamus Muziekweek are making waves around the world. In January 2012, the very first Gaudeamus Muziekweek New York took place while in April 2014, Gaudeamus Canada was staged in Toronto and Montreal.
Gaudeamus organises an international visitors' programme during Gaudeamus Muziekweek in collaboration with Dutch Performing Arts. The visitors' programme is made possible by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
Gaudeamus Muziekweek is part of the Ulysses network, an European network for the promotion and support of young contemporary musical creation. Several partners from this network will visit Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2015 and discuss future projects and meet (new) Dutch composers and ensembles. In addition, other international presenters and journalists are invited to visit this festival that facilitates the development of new work and an stages tomorrow’s music. Asko|Schönberg, Insomnio, Slagwerk Den Haag, Thomas Bensdorp and Christiaan Richter are a few of the many companies and composers presenting their work.
